The International Brotherhood of Magicians' Annual Convention, held in Buxton earlier this month, was a fantastic week of magic. It was a pleasure to meet so many new people, catch up with friends, and perform in the incredible Buxton Opera House.

The Gala of Youth Show on the opening night was the main reason I was there, as I was booked to do my dove act. I hadn't performed the act since the beginning of the summer, so it was great to bring it back to the stage!

Whilst at the convention, I also entered the stage competition. As I had been working on new material in Belarus all Summer, I decided not to compete with the dove act for the first time ever! Nerve-racking, but I was thrilled with the reception the new act received and even ended up winning the Theo Speaker Cup for 2nd place in the competition, which was a lovely surprise! The same award I won 3 years ago with my dove act, it's good to know I'm heading in the right direction with the new bits! I'll be performing this new act at the next Variety Show on Thursday 10th October, and I'm very excited that the show is returning to The Magic Circle!

However, my convention highlight was meeting one of my childhood heroes...Sooty! It was fascinating to hear about the history of the show and discover some of the secrets from Sooty's current right hand man, Richard Cadell! Couldn't have got much closer!!
