After a couple of false starts, it was incredible to be back in a theatre, performing for a live audience for the first time in over a year! ‘Hey Presto-n’ was in fact the first live magic show in a UK theatre since lockdown. It was nerve-wracking being back on stage after so many months off, but once we heard the buzz from the audience, it was just like old times :)

Similar to live shows, Breathe Magic’s recent sessions also had to switch to Zoom. A new challenge, however it was lovely to work with some new groups of people and still create a positive change with magic, even through virtual sessions.

Over the last few weeks, we had the first in-person magic sessions in over a year. These were part of the Breathe Magic for Memory programme, in partnership with Headway Thames Valley, with sessions designed to improve sequencing, narrative and memory skills for individuals with memory loss and associated mental health difficulties as a result of brain injury.

It was such a joy to meet this group of people and see their improvements over just 6 weeks. Nothing beats being in the room and sharing magic face to face, especially when it can have a real impact on people’s wellbeing.
